On 18 October the ACER Administrative Board (AB) formally appointed the six members and six alternates of the Agency’s Board of Appeal for a term of five years. The members were proposed by the European Commission, following a public call for expression of interest and after consultation of the Board of Regulators.
The six appointed members are Walter Boltz, Yvonne Fredriksson, Jean-Yves Ollier, Andris Piebalgs, Mariusz Swora and Michael Thomadakis. The six appointed alternates are Viorel Alicus, Miltos Aslanoglou, Mariano Bacigalupo Saggese, Nadia Horstmann and Erik Rakhou.
The Chair of the AB, Romana Jordan, congratulated the new members and alternates for their appointment. She then added “The Board of Appeal plays a very important role in the Agency, by providing a faster internal review of the Agency’s decisions. I have full confidence that the newly appointed members will successfully perform this function”. At the same time, she thanked Herbert Ungerer and the other outgoing members of the Board of Appeal "for their commitment and dedication over the last five years”.
As an independent body of the Agency, the Board of Appeal decides upon the appeals brought before the Board against an individual decision of the Agency.
